LOST BOYZ CLUB MIX SERIES - 001 ⎪ TUNNELS
Just in case you missed it, the 1st installment in our mix series, from the boyz in charge, Tunnels. More to follow soon, keep an eye on the soundcloud!
LOST BOYZ CLUB FEBRUARY 7TH - WALTON
We started 2012 as we mean to go on last week, big up to everyone who came down, we’re sure you’ll all agree it was a seriously fun night and Jon Rust & Reecha absolutely smashed it!
We’re not hanging about either, as we roll straight into February with Walton. Hailing from Manchester, and signed to Kode9’s boundary-breaking Hyperdub label, Walton fuses 808 patterns and old skool grime synths, all bouncing along under tight UK Funky riddims to create a sound that is entirely his own, and has been gaining him support from some big DJ names such as Benji B and Ben UFO. Lost Boyz Club January - John Rust & Reecha
While we just had our last event of the year last week with Visionist and Blackwax absolutely smashing it, we’d just like to let you know that things are still ticking over here at Lost Boyz Club, and we’ve got some big things rolling through next year.
The 1st of these will be our next event on January 10th, with John Rust & Reecha. Residents of Standard Place alongside Oneman ASBO and Barlcay, and Boiler Room regulars, those who are familiar with them know to expect wall-to-wall dopeness, and those that aren’t, check out their latest Boiler Room set, gets serious naughty about half way through so listen out for that! Roll on January!
Perhaps one of, if not the biggest act the Boiler Room has seen, this set really caught my attention in terms of what track selection would be on offer and whether it would live up to expectation. Without doubt it definitely did. The mixing is slightly off point but that only shows us the man is human, interesting vibe from start to end.
You can listen/watch the mix here.

This one is going to be insane.
Marcellus Pittman - XLR8R Podcast
After seeing Detroit legend Kyle Hall tear up Boiler Room on Tuesday night we decided to do some proper research into the music and scene that he actually comes from and by chance stumbled in to this brilliant, one hour fifteen minutes of deep, soulful Detroit sounds; mixed by none other than veteran DJ Marcellus Pittman.
The tracklisting and download can be found at XLR8R here.
Hudson Mohawke: Beats, Rhymes and Lasers
Interesting article in the Guardian on Hudson Mohawke’s steady rise to fame. He talks passionately about what made him go down the route he has as well as what the future holds for him (pretty exclusive)!
You can read the article here.
Klaus - Tusk EP
It’s out today and my is it brilliant. One of the key members of the ‘post-dubstep’ generation; Klaus’s ambient EP released on R&S has strong links to the 2007 Burial album ‘Untrue’ which gained critical acclaim.
As Boomkat describes it perfectly, ‘Klaus avoids the common trap of using a 4-track EP as an excuse to show off a range of styles; instead he takes the opportunity to refine and nail down his own unique sonic identity and carefully, patiently explicating it across the four tracks.’
You can cop the E.P here.
DJ Pierre - FACT Mix 272
For the 272nd mix in the series FACT have got Acid House legend, DJ Pierre. One third of ‘Phuture’ who brought classics such as ‘Your Only Friend’ and ‘Acid Trax’; the amount he has contributed to house music is phenomenal. He’s recently re-released ‘Mystery Girl’ on Jackmaster’s label Numbers, coinciding with the huge Acid revival which we’re finding hard to ignore.
You can listen to the mix for a limited number of days here.
Jay Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
Check out the full stream released today of the collaboration album between Jay Z and Kanye West. Big things have been promised from the album so why not click through and make your own minds up!
Look Like - Buggin EP
We may be slightly behind in only hearing this EP recently, but just in case some of you still haven’t heard it, this is Swiss producer ‘Look Like’ with his debut ‘Buggin EP’ out on Get Flavor. Supported by remixes from Jack Dixon, Fex Fellini and Sinji Hawke, the EP (typically) combines house and garage flavours but does it with catchy vocals that are sure to do well across Europe.
Definitely one to keep your eye on. Downtown is our favourite but you can make your own mind up by listening to the E.P here.
Claude Von Stroke Mix for Resident Advisor
American Dirty Birder Claude Von Stroke has planted himself into the UK scene with great response. His remix of Girl Unit - Wut received massive hype here and was definitely good exposure for the Night Slugs over in the US.
Creator of a legendary back catalogue, including tracks such as “Who’s afraid of Detroit?”, he talks to Resident advisor about his new mix and upcoming projects. He reveals his thoughts about Bass music and House and where he see’s it all going. Check out the mix and full interview here!
Rymdreglage - Insert Coin
These guys don’t need any introduction, just watch something extremely special being created.
Enjoy!
Daphni aka Dan ‘Caribou’ Snaith - Daphne Edits Volume II
This genius who’s alter ego Daphni represents the Disco world has now reworked a contemporary track alongside an oldie. Taking a recording from New Zealand’s Orchestra of Spheres track Hypershere he further enhances the track with a fusion of disco with a psychedelic vibe that could easily of been influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd previously.
The other track on the Cd ‘Baladins’ originates from West Africa and apparently has been state sponsored. Snaith has taken control of it and added a forward thinking masterclass in engineering.
We at Lost Boyz Club are big fans of Caribou and this latest Cd by Snaith further enhances the fact they are at the top of there game right now!
